Crews stop forward progress of Uphill Fire in El Dorado County near Pilot Hill

Firefighters worked to contain a wildfire in El Dorado County on Monday that was burning in the Pilot Hill area. 

The incident, which started near Uphill and Pedro Hill roads, was named the Uphill Fire.

Cal Fire said the flames were moving at a moderate rate of spread and burned about 8 acres by 2 p.m. Monday. By 2:30 p.m., the fire had burned 18 acres, but crews had stopped forward progress. 

No evacuation orders or warnings were issued, and crews will stay in the area to continue working to secure the perimeter of the fire.

Exactly what started the fire is unknown at this point.
