Unconscious Man Rescued From Burning Modesto Home
MODESTO (CBS13) - Firefighters in Modesto were able to save the life of a man who was found unconscious inside of a burning home Monday.
At around 2 a.m., firefighters from the Modesto Regional Fire Authority received word of a structure fire at 220 West Rumble Road in Modesto. Crews went to the address and found heavy amounts of smoke pouring out of a townhome. Neighbors told firefighters a male senior lived at the home and was probably still inside.
Firefighters aggressively battled the blaze, entered the home and found the unconscious man. They took him outside and found he was not breathing, nor did he have a pulse. They administered CPR, and within minutes, the man regained a pulse and was breathing on his own.
The man was taken to Doctor's Medical Center. By the time he arrived, he was awake, alert and responded to questions. He is still listed in critical condition.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
Four engines, one ladder truck and two chief officers responded to the fire. In all, 17 firefighting personnel were involved in battling the fire.
