UFC Middleweight Champ Chris Weidman's Title Defense Canceled After Rib Injury

LOS ANGELES (AP) - UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has a rib injury, forcing the cancellation of his title defense against Vitor Belfort at UFC 184 next month.

The UFC announced its latest cancellation of a high-profile title bout due to injury Friday.

Ronda Rousey's bantamweight title defense against Cat Zingano is the new main event of the show at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 28.

The UFC doesn't know how long Weidman (12-0) will be sidelined. The Long Island native claimed the belt from Anderson Silva in 2013 and won his second title defense over Lyoto Machida last July.

Rousey (10-0) will attempt her fifth title defense in UFC 184.

Boxing champion Holly Holm's UFC debut against Raquel Pennington is the new top fight on the Los Angeles undercard.
