UC Health Center Doctors Walking Off The Job Tuesday

DAVIS (CBS13) - Doctors at UC campuses across the state are holding a one-day strike.

The doctors, all employees of the University's student health centers, walked off the job in protest of so-called unfair labor practices by UC during their yearlong bargaining for a first contract.

The picket lines will run from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm at UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, and UC San Diego.

The doctors are members of the Union of American Physician and Dentists, which has been negotiating a contract with the University of California since it formed in 2013, the union said in a statement.

Health services will still be offered on all campuses.

This is the first time in 25 years fully-licensed doctors have gone on strike against a U.S. employer.
