UC Davis Football Player Arrested, Faces Domestic Violence Charges

DAVIS (CBS13) - A UC Davis football player is facing domestic charges, the school confirms.

Patrick Wells, listed as a senior Economics major on the Aggie athletics website, was arrested Saturday on charges of felony domestic assault, false imprisonment and petty theft.

UC Davis notes that Wells has been suspended from the football team in light of the arrest. He faces dismissal if the charges prove true, the school says.

"The University takes all charges of dating violence and domestic violence seriously. This matter has been referred to the campus Title IX Office and Student Judicial Affairs for review. The University will act on this matter appropriately and without delay," UC Davis spokesperson Dana Topousis wrote in a statement.

Wells is a native of Woodland Hills, according to his profile, and graduated from Taft High School in 2012.
