Two Sought As Amber Alert Ends Because Oakland Carjacking Never Happened
OAKLAND (CBS13) — A statewide Amber Alert has been called off after an elderly man thought to have been taken hostage in a carjacking has been found.
The man has told Oakland Police that there was no carjacking at an Oakland Safeway on Tuesday, and the teen people reported seeing in the backseat of his vehicle was actually an adult woman.
The who allegedly stuffed seafood into his pants at the Safeway, Roy McCamey, 54, and who left the store with the elderly man and woman is still being sought by police.
A $10,000 reward is out for any information that could lead to finding McCamey.
The statewide Amber Alert was originally issued because witnesses thought McCamey pulled a knife on the elderly man, and they thought the woman in the backseat was a teenager.
