Two People Injured, 146 Displaced By Blast At Rancho Cordova Apartment

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - Two people were critically injured by an explosion at a Rancho Cordova apartment on Wednesday night.

Firefighters with Metro Fire say blast happened between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Rancho Terrace Apartments, which is at 10531 Mills Tower Drive. They say it appears the explosion happened in a unit on the ground floor.

The force of the explosion was strong enough to blow a large section of wall and several windows.

Dozens of firefighters converged on the apartments and put out the resulting fire.

A firefighter was also taken to the hospital where he was treated for a minor injury and released.

The Red Cross is helping 146 residents who have been displaced by the explosion and damage to the building.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
