Two Men Allegedly Fire At Two Undercover Police Officers In Southern California

RIALTO, California. (AP) -- Two men have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing at two undercover police officers.

The Fontana Police Department reports 22-year-old Daniel Castro and 20-year-old Michael Del Rio fired two rounds at the officers as they drove by a house Friday evening in Rialto, about 55 miles west of Los Angeles.

Lt. Dough Imhof says the officers were driving in an unmarked car and not wearing anything to identify them. Investigators say it's possible the suspects may have thought the officers were members of a rival gang.

Fontana Police Department officers responded to the scene and surrounded the residence.

A revolver was found inside the home and both men were taken into custody.

No gunfire was exchanged and no injuries reported.
