San Diego TV Sports Anchor Shot Outside His Home

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The sports director for a San Diego television station has been wounded in a shooting outside his home.

CBS affiliate KFMB-TV says Kyle Kraska was attacked Tuesday afternoon in the wealthy Scripps Ranch area of the city.

TV reports show a silver Mercedes with its back window shot out parked on the edge of a driveway in a cul-de-sac. KFMB reports Kraska was shot several times and is in surgery.

The station says a police officer who accompanied Kraska to the hospital said he is alert, awake and responsive.

Police told the station the shooters drove off in a van.

Kraska appears on the channel's evening newscasts and hosts its San Diego Chargers postgame show. He previously worked for TV stations in New York, Florida, Texas and Los Angeles.
