Triple-digit temps in Sacramento Valley prompts weekend heat warning

Friday morning weather forecast - 7/21/23

SACRAMENTO - A heat advisory will go into effect Friday morning, lasting until Saturday night for the Valley and Foothills.

Temperatures in the Sacramento region will have highs ranging from 100° to 113° with overnight lows from 65° to 80°. It's best to reduce your time outside between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. 

Hang in there, much cooler temperatures are back in the forecast next week!

Northern California Heat Advisory

The timing of the heat advisory is 11 a.m. Friday until 11 p.m. Saturday

Further, the NWS calls for a heat advisory under these conditions: 

  • When hot conditions could cause impacts to life, commerce or travel
  • When there is a moderate to high risk to those who are sensitive, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration

Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor activities during the afternoon and evening, and as always, pets and kids should not be left inside vehicles.

Sacramento has opened a number of cooling centers to provide residents relief from the heat.
