Trio Saves Horses From Worst Of Valley Fire

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — It's an incredible story of courage and bravery, and a story best told by those who lived it—Cheryl Johnston, Pamela Barr, and her husband Butch who has the injuries to prove it.

The trio stayed behind to save the horse at the Hidden Valley Stables, using hoses to spray the barn and put out numerous spot fires sparking everywhere around them.

Butch says they had no choice—unable to evacuate in time and surrounded on all sides by the fire. So here they stayed, in the height of the chaos and danger.

At 3 a.m., nine hours after they got there, the horses were safe, escaping the fire's wrath nearly untouched.
