Trial Set For Sacramento Mom Accused Of Burning 7-Year-Old Daughter

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A Sacramento woman accused of setting fire to her 7-year-old daughter has been ordered to stand trial on charges including attempted murder and mayhem.

A judge on Wednesday set a Nov. 19 trial date for 27-year-old Porche Latrice Wright.

Wright is accused of pouring hot oil on her daughter and lighting the girl on fire in early April.

The girl suffered severe burns that covered nearly 40 percent of her body - including her neck, chest, arms and legs.

The Sacramento Bee newspaper reports the injuries will require surgeries well into adulthood.

Wright was arrested at her home when a family friend called for help.
