Trailhead Fire Grows Overnight, Containment Holds

GEORGETOWN (CBS13) - New mandatory evacuations were set in place overnight for people living in Placer and El Dorado Counties as the Trailhead Fire continues to burn.

The fire grew to 1,264 acres and is only 12 percent contained.

With new road closures and mandatory evacuations underway, many people living in El Dorado County are leaving neighborhoods where they once felt safe.

"At one time, the planes were flying farther over to the west, now they're coming up over properties so it seems like the fire is moving up this way," said Tony Rose, who had to leave his Georgetown-area home.

Ground crews are working to clear brush and carve out fire breaks to help keep homes safe.
