Trail Fire Slows As Night Falls, But High Temperatures Coming Back

FORESTHILL (CBS13) — The spread of a fire in Placer and El Dorado counties that prompted evacuations has slowed into the evening.

The Trail Fire was at 300 acres as of 10 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire started at around 2 p.m. and was threatening 400 structures.

The aggressive air attacks continued into the evening. All day, firefighters used airplanes to try and control this rapidly growing wildfire that threatened homes in the mountain communities around it.

Ron and Kathleen Herman and their two young children live near the firelines. They spent the night at the evacuation center set up at Foresthill High School after sheriff deputies placed their neighborhood under mandatory evacuation orders.
