Tracy Police Searching For Bear Spotted Overnight

TRACY (CBS13) - Tracy police are searching gullies in Tracy for signs of a bear that was spotted in a residential area of the city early Tuesday morning.

A person reported the first bear sighting Monday at 8:45 p.m. in the area of Lowell Ave. and Orchard Pkwy. Officers were called to the scene but could not find the bear.

At about 1:56 a.m. Tuesday, another person reported seeing the bear in the area of Grantline and Corral Hollow roads and snapped a photo.

The Department of Fish and Game officials have been notified of the bear.

Students and parents walking to school are advised to be on alert for the animal. Bears can be dangerous and can be provoked when concerned or in a stressful and unfamiliar environment.
