Thousands Without Power In Elk Grove After Vehicle Hits Power Pole

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - Thousands of PG&E customers were left without power Tuesday in the Elk Grove area after a vehicle hit a power pole, knocking it down.

The incident happened in the 8600 block of Elk Grove Boulevard and involved one vehicle, according to a statement from the Elk Grove Police Department.

Police are urging drivers to avoid the area. They have not said if the driver was injured or what caused the crash.

According to a statement from SMUD, about 17,000 customers were affected by the outage. The company predicts power will be fully restored by 5:35p.
