Thieves Carry Out $4 Million Laptop Heist

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say five men held up a warehouse security guard at gunpoint and made off with thousands of laptop computers worth up to $4 million.

Officer Mike Lopez says the armed robbery occurred in broad daylight last Friday in the Harbor Gateway area.

Lopez said Monday that the guard at the warehouse was tied up. Then the thieves drove two trucks onto the property, hooked up two trailers containing more than 7,500 Dell laptops, and drove off.

City News Service says one of the trailers was found empty Saturday morning in Commerce.

Police say five male suspects were involved, four of whom wore masks.
