Thief Steals Stockton Church's Dedication Plaques

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A Stockton church had plaques dedicated to donors pried out and stolen last week, police say.

According to the Stockton Police Department, the thefts happened at the Church of Presentation along Leesburg Place back on Sept. 17. Police say that, between 4:25 and 4:27 a.m., a man rode up on a bike, pried out some plaques, pocketed them and then took off.

Surveillance cameras captured the incident on video and show the man using some kind of tool to break off the plaques.

Police also say that a second man in the area was probably acting as a lookout for the suspect.

The men were reportedly last seen heading east away from the church while riding bicycles.

It is unclear how many plaques were stolen. Anyone with information on who the suspects might be is asked to call the Stockton Police Department at (209) 937-8377.
