The Grant Napear Show - September 5, 2014

Today, the Grant Napear show began with discussion of San Francisco 49er's Ray McDonald and his current status with the team, Grant expressing his belief that, by letting McDonald play on Sunday, the 49ers are indicating that they have deemed him innocent of the domestic violence charges filed against him.

Grant also talked about last night's NFL season opener between the Packers and Seahawks, explaining that, as good as the Seahawks look early on in the season, history proves it outrageously ddifficult for NFL teams to successfully defend a Super Bowl title.

Next, Sacramento Bee's Joe Davidson came on the show to discuss the night's local high school football matchups, suggestting the best games to catch and giving some predictions.

Sports handicapper Brandon Lang joined Grant next to report on the best bets in Week 1 of a new NFL season.

The day's Grant's Rant was a shot at the fans who judge a football team's potential by their opening game, explaining that the nation has overhyped the Seahawks big win last night and too quickly deemed Seattle the team to beat. It was just one game.

Next, Grant gave his Week 1 picks, calling the Eagles over Jacksonville the lock of the week. He also picked the Lions over his New York Giants and the Jets over the Raiders, but did give the 49ers the edge over Dallas.

Grant also had Charles Davis on the show to talk about the weekend's marquee college football matchups, as well as the atmosphere around Eugene as the big game between University of Oregon and Michigan State approaches.

Grant's golf hour featured a chat with Tom Morton, the PGA Director of Player Performance at Sacramento's Haggin Oaks. Grant and Tom discussed the upcoming Ryder Cup and the United States' shot as the underdog, as well as the junior golf scene in the greater Sacramento area.
