The Grant Napear Show - August 20, 2014

The Grant Napear Show opened after the conclusion of the A's-Mets game, beginning with discussion of the Giant's winning their protest concerning last night's delay debacle at Wrigley Field. The Giants and Cubs will resume that affair in the 5th inning tomorrow at 4:00 PM local time thanks to the MLB's acceptance of San Francisco's appeal.

Grant kicked off the five o'clock hour by mentioning the announcement coming out of the Browns' camp, who reported that Brian Hoyer will start over controversial rookie Johnny Manziel to open Cleveland's season. Grant also briefly discussed the defensive matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers, who open their regular seasons in Dallas on September 7th.

The devastating left knee injury suffered by Angels ace Garrett Richards in tonight's clash at Fenway Park was next discussed on the Grant Napear Show, as was the impact that injury could potentially have on the Angels' rotation and the race for the top spot in the American League West.

Grant's rant was a bashing of the way in which Major League Baseball assembles their regular season schedule, exemplifying the fact that the Los Angeles Angels play four straight night games in Boston and must then travel to Oakland to play a night game without a single day off.

Next reported on the show was the recent citing of Le'Garrett Blount and Le'Veon Bell for possession of marijuana, the Steelers running backs taken into custody in Ross Township, Pennsylvania today after a traffic stop warranted by police officers smelling the marijuana-odor pouring out of the car. Bell is expected to be charged with driving under the influence of marijuana.

Grant had Chris "Mad Dog" Russo on the show next to talk about the playoff races in the American League, as well as the injury to Garrett Richards and the impact it could have on the playoff picture.

The show concluded with discussion of the A's position heading into the stretch drive, as well as their pitching staff come October.
