Teen Accused Of Shooting 2 Other Manteca Youths

MANTECA (CBS13) - A teen is under arrest, accused of shooting an 11-year-old boy and a 17-year-old over the weekend.

The shooting happened at 1 a.m. Sunday at a residence in the 1200 block of Glenn Drive in Manteca, just south of Highway 99, according to Manteca Police Dept. Sgt. Jodie Estarziau. The 11-year-old had a gunshot wound to the head and was unconscious when first responders arrived at the scene. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old victim reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. He was treated at the scene and released to his parents.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested by police at the scene. Detectives believe he acted alone. He was booked into juvenile hall on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers have not released a motive for the shooting, nor have they released the names of any of the people involved.

The gun believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered.
