TBD Fest Leaving Some Neighbors Sleepless

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Some say you didn't need to buy tickets to the TBD Fest in West Sacramento to hear the music.

West Sacramento resident Samantha Walker lives two miles away from the music festival, and says it sounded like the bass sound was "going through the walls."

The TBD Fest an annual event that just moved to River Walk Park.

"I tried sleeping with ear plugs on and eventually I had to take a sleeping pill just to go to sleep," Walker said.

Susan Thomson and her husband live just a quarter of a mile away from the show.

"He says this noise is ridiculous late at night and on a work night because he gets up at 4 a.m.," Thomson said.

The TBD Fest features concerts that start in the afternoon and go throughout the day. But the last artist hits the stage at 11 at night. The music is scheduled to end at midnight.

"Last night my dad was trying to sleep and he had to get up at five o'clock this morning," Samantha said. "And my parents run a church so they have to get up early tomorrow and go to church."

That was Friday night, the first day of the TBD Fest.

But the show went on Saturday night and will continue on Sunday night.

"And I have to work Monday morning," Samantha said.

Both Susan and Samantha say they actually support the event, they just want the volume turned down a lot earlier.

Whether organizers will listen to these neighbors is to be determined.

"I am an advocate for local music and I think it's a great idea," Samantha said. "I was even interested in going to the show myself, but it's really inconvenient and rude."

West Sacramento police say they got 16 noise complaints about the TBD Fest Friday night. Saturday night, police say they received seven noise complaints.

Organizers spoke off-camera to CBS13 and said no one has complained to them about the noise.
