Tank Fire Burns At Southern California Refinery

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County firefighters have responded to a tank fire at a refinery in suburban Carson.

Fire Inspector Richard Licon says an explosion and fire was reported early Friday afternoon at a Tesoro refinery.

Licon says it's not known what substance is in the tank. He says there are no reports of injuries.

Radio station KNX reports from an aircraft over the scene that it appears to be a processing tank smaller than a large storage tank.

KNX says the top of the tank is damaged.

There was no immediate response to a telephone message and email request for comment from Tesoro.
