SWAT Standoff In Sacramento Ends In Arrest

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Officers have arrested a suspect at the center of an hours-long standoff involving an armed man and an infant.

Around 4:30 a.m., police were alerted to a possible domestic violence situation at a duplex on Alamos Avenue and Perktel Street in North Sacramento. When officers arrived, they learned a male suspect in the home who was believed to be armed, refused to come out. He had a 1-year-old child with him.

The female victim says around midnight she and the suspect got into an altercation. They both left the home, but the man reportedly took the infant with him. When she returned to the home later in the morning, the victim was confronted by the suspect, who, police say, may have fired his gun. She left the home and alerted police.

SWAT officers surrounded the home as nearby streets were blocked off and neighbors were told to evacuate from their homes. A neighbor says she was woken up by officers and told to leave her home for the safety of her and her family.

The suspect eventually came out of the home with the infant. Police arrested the suspect who was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

Police are searching for the gun that was reportedly used by the suspect.
