Sutter General Sacramento Fined $50K By State

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A Sacramento hospital was one of three facilities fined by the California Department of Public Health Thursday.

Sutter General Hospital along L Street was handed a $50,000 fine on a charge that it "failed to ensure the health and safety of a patient when it did not follow established policies and procedures regarding fall prevention," the CDPH wrote.

The two other hospitals fined Thursday were Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkley (which was handed two fines) and the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. All fines were based on investigations into the facilities' reported noncompliance with licensing requirements.

In total, the CDPH handed out $275,000 Thursday. The fine is Sutter General's first administrative penalty, according to the CDPH.
