Driver who attempted illegal pass on Sutter County road killed in head-on crash, CHP says

SUTTER COUNTY – A driver who authorities said attempted to make an illegal pass died in a head-on crash in Sutter County on Sunday. 

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. on Live Oak Boulevard south of Rednall Road, which is located just north of Yuba City.

Officers said a 60-year-old woman from Linda was traveling north on Live Oak Boulevard. She was driving a Chevrolet Aveo and illegally crossed the solid yellow line in an attempt to pass a vehicle, the CHP said.

Officers said this is when she crashed head-on into a driver of a Toyota Prius who was heading south. 

The 60-year-old woman died, officers said. She has not been identified. 

The driver of the Prius was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
