Suspicious Activity Locks Out Yolo County Courthouse

WOODLAND (CBS13) – Authorities believe that someone tried to get in or set fire to the Yolo Superior Courthouse Wednesday morning.

Crime tape surrounded the building as authorities the scene. About 40 people were seen waiting outside the courthouse as business was put on hold.

"The Sheriff's department has opened an investigation and we have every reason to believe that that investigation will help us determine the person or persons who are responsible for that attempt," said Presiding Judge Basha in a statement.

Court officials note that the courthouse is equipped with surveillance technology that will help in identifying whoever tried to sabotage the facility.

The building was reopened by 10 a.m.
