Suspect's Car Catches Fire While Leading Deputies On Chase

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – A man is in custody after his car caught fire during a chase with sheriff's deputies.

According to Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies, the chase started after 2 a.m. in the area of Watt Avenue and Elkhorn Boulevard.

When the chase made its way up west 2nd Street in Rio Linda, neighbors say they heard a "boom" and the suspect's Toyota caught fire.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after.

At this time, deputies are investigating exactly what caused the car to catch fire.
