Suspected Marijauna Theft Leads To Sutter County Chase, Arrest Behind Jail

SUTTER COUNTY (CBS13) — A suspected marijuana theft led to a chase with the California Highway Patrol and the Sutter County Sheriff's Department.

A CHP officer reportedly saw a Jeep run a red light at Poole Avenue and Starr Drive. The three men inside the Jeep stopped the car shortly into the chase and ran off on foot.

The driver of the Jeep—37-year-old Clorenzo Griffin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida—ran behind the Sutter County Jail, and was spotted by a sheriff's deputy. The driver then allegedly pulled a gun on the deputy, prompting the deputy to draw his own gun and fire. The suspect wasn't struck, but decided it was time to surrender.

After the shooting, Andre Dion Jamison, 39, and Rodney Stewart Rackley, 24, both of  Miami, were arrested without incident.

Officers found a large amount of marijuana inside the car they determined was stolen from a person in Yuba City at gunpoint.
