Suspect Chase Ends In Crash In Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - A driver is under arrest after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed chase through Sacramento County and crashing into a fence at a home.

The chase started around 3 a.m. near Watt Avenue and Interstate 80 after the deputy noticed that a Lexus sedan had expired tags and indicated for the driver to pull over. The car pulled over and the deputy walked up to the driver's window. At that point, the car sped off. The deputy chased the vehicle which drove on freeway and surface streets -- at one point hitting a sign pole, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesperson.

The Lexus eventually when a parked truck and a fence in front of a home in the area of Mercedes Avenue and Van Maren Lane in Citrus Heights and came to a stop.

"So I see red and blue lights, my whole house shakes and the guy piles right into their house," said a nearby resident, describing the crash.

The suspect was taken into custody on unspecified charges.
