Suspect Charged In Cold Case Murder Of 3-Year-Old Fairfield Boy

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) - Police have made an arrest in the decades-old murder case of a young Fairfield boy.

Three-year-old Clark Toshiro Handa was abducted from his bedroom along what was once Magellan Road in Fairfield back in August 1984. The suspect left a ransom note demanding money for the boy's safe return.

Clark was never seen again, however.

The Fairfield Police Department and the FBI have been investigating the case. Cold case detectives took over the investigation in 2011.

Evidence soon surfaced that led detectives to finally identify a suspect. On Monday, Michael Anthony Blas Fejarang was charged for the murder of Clark.

Fejarang was already in prison on a 26-year sentence for separate child molestation convictions. He was 23-years-old at the time of Clark's murder and a friend of the young boy's family, detective say.

Detectives have not detailed what evidence led them to charge Fejarang.
