Suspect Arrested In Connection With Fatal Stabbing In Gated Roseville Community

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – Deputies have arrested a suspect in the stabbing death of another man in a gated Roseville community over the weekend.

The incident happened Friday night on Lanie Court, according to a statement from the Placer County Sheriff's Office. That's where 21-year-old Andrew Michael Petrenko of Citrus Heights was walking to the party with friends when a white sedan pulled up. Investigators say the driver said something to Petrenko then got out of the car, stabbed him three or four times, got back in his car immediately, and sped off.

After conducting interviews and following up on leads, Placer County sheriff's detectives arrested 22-year-old Zachary Nicholas Gonzalez at his residence in Sacramento.

Deputies say they responded to noise complaints at the party less than an hour before the stabbing.

"I guess it's a mystery to the point of its unclear why the suspect did what he did," said Lt. John Poretti of the Placer County Sheriff's Office.

Gonzalez is being held without bail for murder in the Placer County Jail.
