Man arrested in connection with shooting death of Jason Simmons in Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS - Police in Citrus Heights have arrested a suspect in connection to an alleged homicide that happened back in March.

On Thursday, the Citrus Heights Police Department announced the arrest of 30-year-old Joshua Zell Brisbane in connection to the killing of a Sacramento man.  

Police say that on March 20, they responded to the report of an adult male found deceased inside an apartment building in the 7800 block of Sayonara Drive. Officers say the victim, 33-year-old Jason Simmons, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

After the shooting, Citrus Heights police detectives spoke with witnesses, analyzed evidence, and eventually identified Brisbane as the suspect. Then on Tuesday, detectives found Brisbane in Roseville, and with help from the Roseville Police Department SWAT team and Sacramento County Probation officers, took him into custody without a struggle. 

Brisbane was booked into the Sacramento County jail on homicide charges.

The Citrus Heights Police Department credited the public for help during the investigation, the Roseville Police Department, and the Sacramento County Probation Department for their assistance with the arrest.
