Suspect Arrested For Fatal Shooting During Chinese New Year Celebration

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – Detectives have arrested a man suspected of shooting and killing another man inside of a south Sacramento restaurant last week.

Sacramento County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a man who was shot inside Café Monaco on Savings Place, off of 65th Street. Inside the restaurant, they found the victim's body. They believe he was shot between 3 and 4 a.m. Friday morning.

Homicide detectives have arrested 35-year-old Minhkha Hoang Phan. He is being held without bail in the Sacramento County Main Jail for murder.

Detectives still have no motive for the shooting. It appears the two men were at the restaurant celebrating the Chinese New Year separately when the shooting happened.

The identity of the victim is still being withheld.

Phan's first court appearance is scheduled for February 25.
