High-speed chase ends in crash in Arden-Arcade

A police chase that started in south Sacramento ended with a crash and arrest in the Arden-Arcade area on Monday, police said.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said deputies began pursuing a vehicle around 9:30 p.m. near Power Inn and Elder Creek roads after the driver fled from an attempted traffic stop. A license plate reader flagged it as an armed vehicle.

The chase ended when the woman driving the vehicle crashed into a civilian vehicle at Watt Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. That woman was detained at the scene, deputies said.

A K-9 officer helped detain a man who was a passenger in the vehicle and attempted to run away, deputies said. That man was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries were reported.

The sheriff's office said there is a heavy law enforcement presence at the crash scene and the public should avoid the area.
