Stray Bullet Hits Central California Girl, 16, In Eye

PARLIER, Calif. (AP) - A Central California teenager who was shot in the eye by a stray bullet remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The Fresno Bee reports 16-year-old Brianna Ramirez and her mother were in a car approaching their home in Parlier Thursday night when a bullet went through a car window and struck her.

Fresno County Sheriff's spokesman Tony Botti said it does not appear the girl was targeted.

Botti said Ramirez's mother agreed to release her daughter's name and photo to help generate leads for investigators.
