Stockton Motorcycle Officer Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle
STOCKTON (CBS13) - A Stockton motorcycle officer was left seriously injured after a crash near the Weberstown Mall Tuesday morning.
The scene is in the area of Yokuts and Claremont avenues, between the Sherwood Mall Shopping Center and Weberstown Mall.
Police say, around 10:30 a.m., a motorcycle officer assigned to the department's traffic division was struck by a person driving a Honda Pilot.
It's unclear, at this point, exactly what led up to the officer being struck. Police say the other driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The officer has been taken to the hospital and is said to be in serious condition.
Ofc. Joe Silva with the Stockton Police Department says the injured officer was conducting a distracted driving mission. However, it's not clear if the officer was pulling over a car at the time of the crash.
Police are advising people to avoid the area of Yokuts and Claremont avenues for the time being as they continue to investigate the incident.
