Stockton Officers Involved In Accident; Woman In Other Car Killed

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Officers responding to a call were involved in a major crash Wednesday morning that killed someone in another car, police say.

The crash happened near N. Pershing Avenue and Rivara Road. California Highway Patrol says two officers were in their patrol car on their way to assist other officers on a call around 8:15 a.m. when a 1998 Toyota Tacoma pulled out in front of them.

The patrol car then crashed into the Toyota.

An 84-year-old woman was driving the Toyota. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

Officers had their sirens on at the time of the crash.

The officers have been taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.

CHP is investigating the accident. It's unclear why the woman didn't see or hear the officers' car coming.
