Stockton Mayor Back In Court, Lawyers Looking At New Evidence
STOCKTON (CBS13) – Lawyers for Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva are planning to file a motion to dismiss the felony case against him.
They privately met with the Amador County district attorney and judge during a hearing on Wednesday. They also plan to file a motion dismissing the case altogether.
Silva is charged with four counts, one felony and three misdemeanors, stemming from accusations he illegally recorded confidential communications at a strip poker game. He is also accused of providing alcohol to teens under the age of 21 – including a minor.
The crimes allegedly happened at a summer camp the mayor hosts in Amador County.
Silva's lawyers said they just got some new evidence.
"Some more evidence today we just got. We haven't really looked through it yet and we'll be spending the next couple of weeks doing further investigation, interviewing witnesses and then drafting motions we believe are meritorious which will really shed light on the case," Silva's lawyer said.
Silva is due back in court October 18 when the motions are expected to be filed.
