State Contractors Board Warns Of Unlicensed Landscaping Scam

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The Contractors State License Board of California is warning homeowners to be on the lookout for unlicensed contractors offering drought-resistant landscaping.

California's drought is prompting many cities to place restrictions on residents' outdoor watering, prompting many to look for alternatives to a brown lawn.

A recent sting busted a total of 11 unlicensed contractors. One man's bid for a drought-resistant landscape was $3,800—much higher than the $500 unlicensed contractors can bid.
