State Attorney General's Office Files Petition To Charge Rocklin Teen With Sister's Death

ROCKLIN (CBS13) – The California Attorney General's Office indicated at charges Monday for a teen suspected of killing his sister inside a Rocklin home.

On Tuesday, Ashley Wood, 13, was found dead by her mother at the home along Monument Springs Drive in Rocklin. A 14-year-old suspect, identified as Ashley's brother, was soon taken into custody.

The California Attorney General's Office confirmed Monday that it filed a petition on Thursday charging the 14-year-old boy, whose name hasn't been released, with one count of murder in Ashley's death. The boy denied the charge.

Ashley was the child of Supervising Deputy District Attorney Jeff Wood. Due to the children's connection to the case, the Placer County District Attorney's Office won't be handling the case.

"Given our strong emotional connection to Mr. Wood and his family it is legally impossible for us to prosecute this case," the D.A.'s office wrote in a release on Thursday.
