Stanislaus State Thief Sought After Computer Equipment Swiped During Winter Break

TURLOCK (CBS13) — Police are searching for a man they say went on a burglary spree at California State University, Stanislaus, stealing computers and other technology equipment.

Campus security cameras captured the man targeting classrooms and other buildings during the winter break.

The burglar swiped at least three computers, hard drives and equipment after striking the library, student center and several offices on campus.

The campus IT department is evaluating whether any personal student information was compromised.

"It's a little unsettling that someone would steal computers, especially from a school where there isn't a lot of funding here," said student Ingrid Saavedra.

Officers say the suspect is a familiar face and identify him as Scott Tackett.

"We've had contact with him in the past, and that's why we were able to identify him on the video," said Chief Steve Jaureguy.
