CBS News Sacramento

Traffic into the Yuba City area was blocked on northbound Highway 99 due to a deadly crash Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just before 9 a.m. near Bogue Road, south of Yuba City limits.

Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but a motorcycle and another vehicle were involved. Major injuries were reported to the motorcycle rider, California Highway Patrol says.

CHP says the rider, a 62-year-old Live Oak resident, later died at the hospital.

No estimated time of reopening was given for Highway 99, but CHP announced the lanes were open just before 10:30 a.m.

Northbound traffic on the freeway was being diverted onto Stewart to Railroad or S. Walton roads for the time being.
