Highway 99 closes briefly in Stockton due to shooting

STOCKTON – A portion of southbound Highway 99 in Stockton was briefly closed due to a shooting that happened Wednesday morning, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol's Stockton division said officers initially responded just before 9:45 a.m. to a report of shots being fired at Morada Lane.

Evidence of the shooting was located at the scene, CHP said. A victim who was cooperating with investigators was not hit by gunfire.

No suspect information was available. Further details surrounding the police investigation have not been released at this time.

The highway reopened and traffic was flowing again before 12:30 p.m.
