Sonoma Deputies Shoot Man Who Pointed Gun At Them

GUERNEVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A man with two children inside his home was shot when he pointed a gun at deputies.

On Wednesday afternoon, deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office responded to a report that a 46-year-old man had threatened a neighbor with a knife. Police say the man was later identified as Jeffrey Singleton. He refused to come off his balcony to talk to deputies. Police say when he went into his home briefly he came back out with a gun and pointed it at deputies.

A deputy then fired an unknown number of rounds from his handgun, striking Singleton.
