SoCal Police Chief Unhurt In 4-Vehicle Freeway Crash

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police officials say Chief Charlie Beck is unhurt after being involved in a four-car crash on a Ventura County freeway.

Nearly three hours after the crash Wednesday evening, Beck said via a tweet that he was OK and thankful the others involved were not seriously injured.

City News Service reports a person in one of the other three cars was taken to a hospital for treatment of apparently minor injuries.

Police spokeswoman Nuria Venegas says neither the chief nor his driver was injured.

The California Highway Patrol says a pickup truck entering the 118 Freeway in Simi Valley hit a second vehicle, triggering a chain reaction that also caused damage to the SUV that Beck was riding in.

The 60-year-old Beck tweeted that he would be back at work Thursday.
