Small Quakes Rattle Far Northern California County Near Nevada

SUSANVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A series of small earthquakes rattled a rural area of Northern California overnight.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-4.7 quake struck at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday about 20 miles east of Janesville in Lassen County.

It was followed within minutes by two more quakes - a magnitude-3.4 and a magnitude-4.0 - around the same area near the Nevada border.

A magnitude-3.4 earthquake was reported at 2:13 a.m. Thursday, also near Janesville.

The epicenters were about 45 miles north of Reno, Nevada.

A dispatcher with the Lassen County Sheriff's Department says there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
