Six Yuba County Schools on Soft Lockdown Following Social Media Threat

YUBA COUNTY (CBS13) - Yuba County Sheriff's Officials are investigating a shooting threat they say showed up on social media Friday.

According to officials, the social media posting threatened a shooting at Lindhurst High School. Lindhurst High School, South Lindhurst High School, Johnson Park School, Oliver School, Yuba Garden School and Ella School have all been placed on a 'soft lockdown.'

Sheriff's deputies say during a soft lockdown students will not be able to leave campus unless dismissed and extra law enforcement personnel are present on each of the campuses.

The exact nature of threat was not immediately released and our calls into the Marysville Unified School District were not immediately returned.

The soft lockdowns come after authorities investigated a potential threat to Marysville High School. That threat, also on social media, ended up being originated in Georgia and is believed to be intended for a school there. Officials in Georgia are investigating that incident.
