Six Kids Under 14 Cited On Suspicion Of Vandalizing Riverbank School

RIVERBANK (CBS13) - Police in one Central California city cited six children on suspicion of vandalising a school over the weekend.

The incident happened at Cardoza Middle School in Riverbank. Police say staff discovered on Monday that the school had been vandalized at some point during the weekend.

A total of six classrooms were vandalized with broken windows and tagging, the principal of the school says. Small items like candy and playground balls were also taken but some were later recovered by police.

School staff investigated and were able to identify six suspects. Two of the suspects, a 12 and 13 year old, were arrested and have been booked at Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall. The other four are under 12 and were cited and released back to their parents.

It is unclear if the students were or are students at the school.

The school estimates the damage to cost between $5,000-$10,000. The damage has been cleaned up and classes are back to normal.
