Shots Fired Near Natomas Candlelight Vigil Near Home Where Carjacking Suspect Died

NATOMAS (CBS13) — Shots were fired during a candlelight vigil in Natomas on Wednesday, but nobody was hurt, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The vigil is believed to be near where a Rio Linda carjacking suspect died after a standoff on Tuesday. Police say Roberto Leon had carjacked a Ford Bronco in Rio Linda.

Police say a vehicle in the area was driving recklessly.

Several friends and family members of Leon gathered to light candles outside the home.

Neighbors say the area is normally quiet.

"I thought I lived in a safe neighborhood, but it looks like it's not too safe," a neighbor said. "I don't even want my kids to go to school tomorrow."

Thursday morning, people are still stopping by the vigil to look and their respects.

Anyone with information about who may have fired the shots is asked to call the Sacramento Police Department.
